Education. In May of 2008, Diego graduated from the University of Wyoming with a bachelor's degree in Business Marketing and minors in International Business and Spanish. Diego also did a study abroad at the University of Barcelona for the spring semester of 2007 in Barcelona, Spain. Through his education at the University of Wyoming, Diego has developed the necessary skills and foundation to excel rapidly in the working world. The highlight of his schooling has been the research projects which have taught him the value of teamwork, leadership and time management. From courses such as International Marketing, International Trade, International Business, and all of his Spanish languages courses, he has expanded his global horizons and is becoming a more diverse and culturally aware marketer. His next academic goals are to obtain more trade-specific training, such as attending seminars and conferences. Experience. Starting Diego's employment experience at a young age has instilled in him the vital groundwork needed by any employee—responsibility and a great work ethic. His first internship was completed in the summer of 2006, with Enterprise RENT-A-CAR in the Denver area. As he was trained in Enterprise’s business aspects, he excelled in the marketing realm where he helped play a role in the 200%+ growth of the branch. Enterprise had a very fast-paced environment and a very team-oriented atmosphere, which were met with his diligent work efforts and positive attitude. In Diego's communications internship with UWTV, he was taught how to take raw content and convert it into captivating, meaningful multimedia information. Throughout all his jobs, a major element has been exhibiting exceptional customer service. This experience has taught him how to build customer rapport, how to constantly provide a positive demeanor and attitude, how to communicate to diverse clientele and find solutions to satisfy the customer. For over two years Diego had concurrently been enrolled as a full-time student while working at least seventeen hours a week. This accomplishment trained him to be very systematic in time-managing, in prioritizing, and in organizing. Diego's latest internship was with IDES - The Plastics Web (www.ides.com). The company is mainly business-to-business and is primarily involved with providing online datasheets on over 74,000 different types of plastics to major manufacturers. He has thoroughly enjoyed the experience because he has been given the opportunity to be involved in online marketing campaigns, to learn new software programs and to create online multimedia advertisements. Based on the favorable aspects of his IDES internship, he desires that his next employment opportunity fulfill the following characteristics:
Interests. As a person who values diversity, art, and culture, Diego had the privilege of accomplishing his goal of studying and living abroad last year. He chose to live for six months in Barcelona, Spain, for many reasons. First, he has made a long-term commitment to improving his fluency in Spanish, a skill that he feels is imperative with rising globalization. Diego also chose Barcelona because of his upbringing in Buffalo, Wyoming. With a population of less than 4,000 inhabitants in Buffalo, he was longing for culture and diversity, qualities he feels are also essential for global awareness. From a previous visit to Barcelona, Diego knew it would be the perfect fix with its infinite culture base and its dynamic and cosmopolitan environment—and it was. Diego has traveled twice to both Europe and South America, which has given him confidence in his communications skills, given him different and positive perspectives on life, broadened his international appreciations and truly taught him that he can accomplish any of his goals. |
